About Art + Data

After a decade of consulting and hundreds of successful data visualization engagements, Decisive Data has decided it’s time to share our design methodologies and standards for creating world-class dashboards. The result is the Art + Data dashboard design methodology. Our three-step creative process and 5 Elements of Dashboard Design take people from conceptualization to development of easy-to-use, world-class dashboards.

The Story

The Art + Data story began in 2015, when Art + Data: A Collection of Tableau Dashboards was imagined, designed, and written by Decisive Data’s in-house Data Artist, Hunter Barrett, and Zack Mazzoncini, Decisive Data’s Director of Strategic Partnerships. The book showcases 20 Tableau dashboards and provides a detailed overview of how the design methodology is applied to each one. Art + Data was featured at the 2016 Tableau Customer Conference, where it sold out in just two hours. After receiving such positive feedback on the book, we knew an Art + Data workshop was the natural next step.

The Solution

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Tableau Art + Data workshop, which introduces our design process and teaches people how to apply it to their work. Customers are recognizing value as they embrace the methodology, improve their dashboards, and develop a culture of analytics.
